Passing Through.

One of the greatest sources for information comes from the old newspapers. Sadly, many no longer exist but those that do provide information not found elsewhere. This book is taken from the Glasgow KY newspapers, 1874 through 1911. Though issues are missing, this will show those South Central KY citizens who decided to "Go West Young Man" and moved to other states. There were no official obituary columns; instead each little community had a "correspondent" who forwarded the news to the editor. Included in this publication are 1,149 such news items concerning where the citizens of Adair, Allen, Barren, Cumberland, Edmonson, Hart, Metcalfe and Monroe Counties went to. A full transcription (although brief) gives the name, where they went, when they left, many times parents' names, spouses names, when they died, many where buried, new children and marriages. Many refer to moves prior to 1874. 112 pages plus a full-name index of over 1500 names and additional information. $17.00.
